Where is my 5G iPod dock microphone???!!!

My dear husband got me the latest and greatest iPod, the 60GB iPod Video, for birthday/Christmas. It’s been loads of fun, indespensible, even.

So now, we’re going on vacation and boy would I love to keep an audio journal of this wonderful experience on my spankin’ new iPod. I’ve heard it can record CD-quality audio! Joy and rapture!

Oh wait, I mean pain and sorrow. Because in spite of the being out for months and months, there are NO microphones YET out on the market that are compatible. One’s due out, date unknown. One’s due out “late spring,” or “May,” depending on what you read.

Unless there’s some miracle at the iPod store tonight, I’m going to be a very grumpy bunny.

Does anyone know if one of the varieties of PocketDock is line-in? Has anyone tried it with a USB microphone? I’m desperate for an effective hack.
